Jamie revisited (the Barry collection)

Jamie (the Barry collection)

Hola! We have just unearthed Barry's Jamie archive. We have a pre- born Jamie at the beach, a post-born Jamie with the Peters in Silver Spring, and a 3 month old Jamie at our temporary home in Raleigh with the Peters. Enjoy

Free and easy!

September 9 - October 3 2007
Another month has passed, and our little guy gets bigger and bigger. The main change: he's lost his brace! Yes, Jamie was given a clean bill of health by his new orthopedist! We were so excited when we heard, we danced around the doctor's office. I'm sure doctors get that all the time.

After he busted free of his brace, we realized just how long this boy is! We're thinking he might be just as tall as his Uncles Dan and Jon and Auntie Jennifer. Maybe taller. Length isn't all he shares with his Uncle Jon. Check out the picture from this month and you'll see what I mean. I think they may be related.

The General is really coming out in him. First, he demands prompt attention. If you don't comply, he will drop you. Or at least make your ears ring. Second, he can sit at attention himself: no more floppy head! He gets stronger every day. When you hold his upper body, those little legs do their job! See the video. Lastly, he scrutinizes everything. Every detail must be gleaned, from colors, to texture, to taste. Finally, his hands and mouth are "moving with a purpose!" Just like a soldier!

Gotta keep going...

It's all coming together now!

Hello all! We're rounding the curve into the 3rd month now. Each day brings a delightful new talent from our Mr. Smiley.

He's starting to babble consistently now. He's going to be such a beautiful public speaker some day. We love to sit and have long, deep conversations with him. He's quite concerned about how the Mattel recalls will effect the Chinese economy, and, in turn, our own. He either said something about "the birthing pangs of a new capitalist society" or he was pooping. One or the other.

Jamie's also figuring out how to use his hands to bring things to his mouth. Just early training for the tough food critic he'll be someday! We won't need to hold his bottle for him much longer...at least we'll still have a foot in the door as long as he's into the boobala!

Also, our future soccer star spends a lot of time kicking up a storm! We're leaving the harness off until our next orthopedist appointment, so we're all enjoying his newfound freedom. Sans harness, he got his first real bath the other day. See video. It's rated R for full frontal nudity. You've been warned.

So! Our public speaking, soccer playing, neud food critic has made some big strides this month. We can't wait to see what he does next!

6 weeks done!

I know this is a bit late, but I had to drive up the demand.

Jamie is doing wonderfully and everyday has been such a joy. We're so lucky that he's such a good little boy. Just feed, change, burp, and entertain him there's not too much screaming. He even let us go out to eat for two straight days in a row, so I think that was his anniversary present to us.

Last weekend I noticed that he started tracking me with his eyes. I do this thing where I repetitively kiss him on the opposite cheek. He now turns his head sometimes to keep me from kissing the opposite cheek. I guess there's no going back for me is there.

So everyone, please enjoy the pictures taken over the last month.

almost to 2 weeks!!

Oh my goodness, almost 2 weeks has passed and we're both bushed. The grandparents have been wonderful, passing on all of the rearing skills they practiced on us. I am now proficient in changing diapers. Being pee'd three times in two days will do that to you.

all hail the new one has arrived!!

James McArthur Sloan was a Saturday baby, born at 3:27 pm on June 23rd. Erin and I had anxiously awaited his arrival. Now that he is here, I can hardly think about much else other than taking care of this helpless little guy. We adore him so; he has my wife's ears and her cheeks sans the dimples. His hair is brown, but hopefully it will turn red later. We cannot tell yet if he has blue eyes, they're kinda hazel right now so they may end up brown.

Jamie is the product of our love, and we feel very blessed to have him now and hope all of you will get to share in our joy. Here are some of the pictures and videos from our experience delivering him at Behthesda Naval Hospital. Enjoy!

Finally pictures!

Hello all,

I'm not one to blog, but all of my buddies who have kids started blogs, and since I want to be like everyone else- here's our little blog devoted to Jamie . . . though I might find it necessary to comment on some other stuff, notably the tarheels, video games, and movies.

Since this blog is devoted to our Jamie, I should tell you abit about him. James McArthur Sloan comes from a long line of well-established Sloans. The men tend to be fuzzy. What I lack in the thick head hair of my brother, I achieve in chest hair. Above is a picture of him at 11 weeks. You won't see any hair in this picture, but you can tell that he's a Sloanboy allright. Though I'm sure he is as much a Peters as he is a Sloan.

By the way score one for the cats!!
